Elopement in Paris

She could not imagine that at 15 she had already found the love of her life, and that ten years later she would be marrying him in Paris.

Robert contacted me only one month before his trip to Paris explaining that he wanted to have a photo shoot with his girlfriend, Megan. He intended to ask her to marry him during the photo shoot. While we were organizing the details for the big day Robert felt Megan was suspecting that he´d propose.

That was when Rob sent me another email with the idea of photographing the proposal one day before the official photo shoot under the condition that I stay hidden while he asked her to marry him. I could only appear after the YES, with kisses and hugs, and present myself as the next day´s photographer!

During the month of preparations, I sent him many suggestions of places, maps and video tutorials of specifically where I would hide and the exact place where he should be to propose.

His idea was to tell Megan that they should go for a walk on the margins of the Seine River to take some pictures of the city and selfies before dinner.

I spent most of the time hidden behind a tree taking candid shots and a few times I pretended I was a tourist in case she saw me.

I must confess that taking photographs of a proposal as if I was a paparazzi made me feel a surge of adrenaline. I felt immensely happy for the importance of the moment, knowing that these pictures will be hugely significant in the couple´s life.

Rob took around 15 minutes pretending he was there to take pictures of the view until he kneeled down with the wedding ring in his hand and popped the big question.

I waited a few minutes and began walking in the couple´s direction taking photos of Megan´s delight… At first, she thought I was just a tourist, but then Rob said, “She´s Gabi, our photographer for tomorrow and she photographed everything!!!”

Megan was paralyzed, for about 2 seconds, finding it hard to believe that I´d taken photos of this unique moment in their lives, then she gave me a big hug with a huge smile on her face.

We took some more photos on Alexander III bridge and the next day we had the official photo shoot in different areas of Paris!

Rob and Megan, I wish you both much more love!

In February 2016, Jonathan got to know my WORK on Instagram and contacted me to shoot his marriage proposal during his trip to Paris. But there was one condition: I had to be hidden during the proposal and only show up after he told his fiancée the story about how he hired a photographer who shot all the emotion in that moment and that she would have an Engagement Session in Paris.
We spent all these months organizing where I could be hidden and the exact place where they should be so that she couldn’t see me and I could have a good view of the couple.  I always send many tips about this kind of photography, like, for example, on which side he has to stay, how long he should wait until the proposal, to be careful not to let her hair hide her face, etc., because I can not interfere In the moment.
As this moment, asking his girlfriend to be the woman of his life, is so expected and important in a man’s life, as soon as Jonathan arrived in the place we arranged, he took only a selfie and got to his knees to propose to Marissa. Her surprise was so intense that she could not stop the tears of joy and her happiness was all over her face.
Jonathan, thank you so much for trusting my work on such a unique day. I wish much more love to both of you.

Taking pictures of Destination wedding always inspires me and makes me so happy. Because I love to travel to new places and I love knowing that the trip is to photograph one of the most important moments for the couple and their respective families.
Naiana, the bride, made contact over 18 months ago, by recommendation of another client, whose wedding I photographed in Paris, in 2012.
She chose Tuscany, in Italy, for being a country where she lived for 2 years and a place that she loves very much. The city where the wedding would be held is named CASTIGLIONCELLO and the hotel picked for reception and hosting had a wonderful view to Liguria sea.
During all this time before the wedding, we exchanged many e-mails and phone calls, talking about photo inspirations, decor, tips to have a successful wedding, and also some suppliers, like makeup artist and video maker that I recommended, for being professionals who I trust deeply.
We traveled to Italy a day before the wedding and luckily we stayed in the same hotel as the guests and couple. We had planned on taking an informal photo shoot to enjoy that beautiful scenery with sunset and because the forecast for the wedding was 90% chance of rain.
She was so sad in knowing that it would be raining on her big day, that she took the makeup artist idea and decided to make her first bride look the day before and make a lot of photos. The sunset was really breathtaking.
Next morning, the sky was already dark and everyone expected a gray and rainy day. But the unexpected happened!!!! There was a very strong and sudden wind that changed that calm sea into big waves and altered the forecast completely. I’m sure that the relative’s and our positive energy brought that up.
Naiana and Felipe’s day was full of emotions, joyful tears, love letter from the groom, beautiful words from the bride during dinner and love among all guests and family.
Na and Fe, I would like to thank all the attention and care that you and your family had with my crew and me.
Much more love to you.

Some months ago, I received an e-mail from a very talented photographer from Brazil, Carolina Pessoa, saying that she would come to Paris with her husband and that she would like me to take pictures of them, in a very laid-back way.
I felt happy and truly honored to be chosen, but there is a huge amount of responsibility in photographing someone who is also a photographer.
After many messages with clothing ideas, places and how she wanted the pictures to be, the day to meet them in the hotel came and the connection with Carol and Ernesto was immediate. And even before I started shooting their pictures, I already knew they would be incredible.
Besides being a strongly bonded couple and very much in love, we had so much fun during the photo shoot. Of course, Carol and I talked a lot about photography and about our days as professionals in this field. These two lovebirds conquered my heart and we became friends. Such a pity that your time in Paris was so short. I hope to see you both again very soon.

Almost one year ago, Julia sent me an e-mail saying that she already was following me on Instagram, that in 2016 she was about to make her dream of visiting Paris come true and she would like me to take pictures of her symbolic wedding only for the two of them, having the Eiffel Tower as a background.

What they didn’t expect was Dudu’s parents coming as a surprise to Paris to share this unique moment.

The couple’s emotion during the exchange of vows  was infecting. I was moved by every tear they wiped off  each other’s faces. The shine as they exchanged looks and the happiness expressed in their broad smiles made this an unforgettable special day.
Much more love Julia and Dudu

Muitas felicidades La e Edu!!!

The first email I received from Andressa was in November 2013.  At that time, she still had no date or venue for her Destination Wedding.  She knew only that it would be in 2015 somewhere in Europe. But even so, she decided to hire me to photograph one of the most important days of her life.  And from there we began exchanging several emails and Skype messages with many wedding tips.

This is something I always try to do going into a new wedding….connecting with people and family I have never met.

After  many months of organization, she decided to get married in September 2015  in Paris and I highly recommended the Four Seasons Hotel George V.

In August 2015, after much online chat, the bride arrived in Paris with her mother and aunt to visit the wedding venue and meet some vendors, including me. The attention and care that the bride and her mother had with me was so great from the beginning to the present day, that I will be eternally grateful for this trust.

I was fortunate enough to meet one week before the big day, the groom’s family  and the father and sister of the bride. This meeting helped me  a lot to create a connection with the people and the feelings that we will shoot on a day so full of love.

    Gabizinha querida,

Amo você, melhor fotógrafa do mundo.

It’s always a big pleasure when you receive an email from another photographer praising your work and wanting to hire you for a shoot in Paris. Mili and Sid are excellent Wedding photographers based in Los Angeles and they came to Paris to celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary, with the idea of doing style and lifestyle photos.
